Becoming a Tutor
The Story
You might be wondering what lead me to become a tutor.

For one, I was a student at Cardiff University, and Edinburgh University – completing a BA in Philosophy and History, as well as an MSc in Philosophy.

In both of these degrees, my performance was checkered. There were some times where I excelled in subjects, receiving the highest marks in the class, and there were others where I was completely misfiring.

The crescendo of this inconsistency in performance was narrowly missing a First, and a Distinction respectively by only 1 or 2 marks. Now, being awarded a 2’1 and a Merit is still great, but the closeness of my grade to the next boundary was frustrating to say the least.
That said – every cloud they say. The silver lining being that I developed a passion for understanding what exactly was required to get the top-grades in academia, and for helping others understand how to apply this in their performance.

The result of this?

I have helped hundreds of students over hundreds of lessons to improve their grade, and find some enjoyment in their academic work.

My mistakes become their lessons, and in doing so, I find great fulfilment, and my hope is that they do to.

So, that – in short – is the basis behind my work as a tutor. I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about my work, and I welcome any questions you might have
